Have you noticed the days are getting longer? Spring arrives on March 20 with the vernal equinox, bringing 12 hours of daylight, rising temperatures, and the sound of birds returning. Nature is shifting and stirring, and so can we.
It goes without saying that the world feels heavy right now. If you're carrying anger, grief, or sadness, you're not alone. If you’re feeling unsettled or facing uncertainties or challenges, it can be difficult to navigate. Those feelings make complete sense.
And yet, as Martin Luther King Jr. reminds us,
"Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that."
Spring invites us to hold both truths at once – to acknowledge what's hard while staying open to renewal. The increased sunlight can help lift our spirits, improve our moods, and increase our energy. Look for the buds on branches. Open a window. Breathe in something fresh.
Breathe in more of what we want, and breathe out negative thoughts. Invite new ideas and new perspectives, while also letting go of what no longer serves us.
As Emerson wrote,
"When it is dark enough, you can see the stars." May the days ahead be brighter – in every sense.
